Winter Workshops

CTW offers day and evening programs between December 20, 2021 and January 5, 2022

 

We’re ready to kick off winter with theatre! This three day camp is a perfect introduction to theatre for those who’ve never tried it before, and a relaxing and creative theatre experience for those who’ve had some experience. The camp is 9:00 am-5:00 pm and costs $100, with a 10% discount when you add siblings!

Students will learn/practice: 

  • Acting introduction
  • Improvisation introduction
  • Winter themed crafts
  • Playwriting introduction
What’s the day like? 
We split the students according to age and they rotate between improvisation, craft, musical theatre, and playwriting! Each class meets 2x a day, for about 30 minutes at a time. We have two 15 minute snack breaks and a 30 minute lunch break as well as one “free time” period. 
 
What should I bring? 
  • Bring a packed lunch and water bottle. 
  • CTW provides snacks, but if you want to send your own snacks with your child, that’s fine.
  • Students may bring their favorite decompression activity–books, craft, etc–for their down time periods.

Can I register my child for just one or two days? 
Yes! But you’ll need to specially arrange it, so email our office and we’ll get you squared away. You’ll pay a prorated rate, about $33/day. 

Get your jazz hands ready! This three day camp will resonate with song and tapping feet! Each day will focus on musical theatre song and dance, as well as acting and crafts. The camp is 9:00 am-5:00 pm and costs $100, with a 10% discount when you add siblings!

  • Musical theatre dance
  • Improvisation
  • Musical theme crafts
  • No previous experience needed
  • Students with more experience will work on solos and duets during song and dance classes

Musical theatre performers combine acting skills with vocal performance. They will work on a nuanced, beautifully wrought performance that matches their lovely voices.   This is a 2-part workshop series 6:00-8:00 pm, and costs $20.

  • Acting during song
  • Using breath to inform choices
  • Communicating character through physical choices and use of space
  • No required skill level
  • Registrants will need to have 1-2 memorized songs ready for this workshop
  • There is no dancing instruction in this workshop

What’s the program like? Here’s a rough itinerary:

  • Group warm up
  • Individual song presentation (one entire song OR two sections of two different songs)
  • Break into groups for coaching
  • Break
  • Workshopping acting choices for songs
 
What should I bring? 
  • Water bottle. 
  • accompaniment track for song(s); sheet music is not likely to be used
  • memorized song/sections of two songs
  • registrants may bring dinner or snacks to eat during breaks, we have a refrigerator and microwave for your use

Sewers who are ready to tackle more difficult projects will work on a knit fabric pattern with instructor Trina Friedberg. This is a 3-day workshop series 6:00-8:00 pm, and costs $30.

  • Different types of knit fabrics
  • Knit fabric care and selection
  • Using a machine to sew knits
  • Students must have experience with a sewing machine
  • Students must have experience in reading a sewing pattern
  • Students must have experience sewing garments with cotton fabric
  •  

What’s the program like? Here’s a rough itinerary:

  • Intro to knits
  • Sample of sewn knit garment
  • Demonstration of sewing knits
  • Practice sewing knits
  • Cut out fabric, sew a knit garment using a pattern
 
What should I bring? 
  • Bring a sewing machine if you have it
  • Bring knit fabric you want to use if you have it
  • Bring a pattern to use if you have a specific project in mind
  • CTW will provide fabric, patterns, sewing machines, and all materials to students who do not bring their own. Students may attend without bringing any of their own materials. 
  • Students may bring dinner or snacks to eat during breaks, we have a refrigerator and microwave for your use

Can I register my child for just one or two days? 
For this program, we need continuity, so students will need to plan to attend all three days in order to receive the appropriate instruction.
